Expectations lead to disappointment

The Second Semester in Thapar actually flew faster than the First Semester. The reason I speculate for this is that in the Second Semester, we knew each other right from the beginning. Moreover, this semester had no boring Environment lectures. Communication is a very interesting subject when compared to Environment.
This semester, we knew what Thapar is and what we need to do to make it decent enough. We never had insanely high expectations, and hence were not that disappointed as well. Expectations lead to disappointment. Never expect too much from the college.

Thank You

This is a post which does not criticize anything in Thapar. Rather, I just want to mention all those things which make Thapar livable. They may be a contribution of Thapar, or just unrelated. But those things also deserve a place on the Internet, along with the numerous issues of Thapar.

  • Quora: This deserves the first position. The free time in Thapar is a very inciting opportunity to go home. But when it is a half day class, I just can't go home for another half day. That is when Quora comes to my aid. It is the best platform, it helps me gain some knowledge, share some knowledge. Basically, the time I spend there is more productive than what I spend on Facebook or any other social network (tried Twitter also, but it is equally unproductive). Quora gives me something to do. People appreciate it time to time, and I feel obliged to reply to comments. At least people there are not judgemental, so unlike Thapar and real life.
  • Music: Whatever quality, I need some background music to play as I type. I want as many distractions from myself as possible, and music is a very important part of them. It helps me engage my brain at different places, so I think least about my home. It is a boon. In fact, there is music playing  right now as I type this.
  • Headphones: My music choices are so unlike the others. So I need headphones, as I had decided that I won't be influenced by whatever happens around me. I had promised this to someone that even if there is nonsense around me, I won't lose my senses. The headphones are an important tool to isolate me from the rest of the college, and hence deserve a place in the list. Volume and type of music gets to my control without disturbing anyone due to the headphones.
  • Laptop: All the above three have Laptop as their requirement. I need a laptop for anything, music or Quora or blogging or anything else. I am not very comfortable on my mobile phone, and the laptop has become a necessity now.
  • Internet: Any amount of thanks to Tim Berner Lee will not suffice, as Internet is what makes all the content accessible to me, and helps me connect with people of like interests, even though there are negligible of them around me. This one even has Thapar's contribution. They have me unlimited internet at a decent speed! Thanks Thapar, for once...
  • TV Series: They are the best option when Quora gets repetitive. They provide entertainment at one click, and we have full control of what is playing. It is unlike the TV in the common room where 200 students need to get to a consensus. This is like my private TV. And oh, the TV here is not very big than my Laptop. So I am not damaging my eyes a lot. Even if there is something, I am sure it is worth!
  • Programming: Where the hell is the guy who invented programming? Where is the person who made it simple enough for any person to be able to do it with ease? Where is Mr Bucky Roberts who made things clear and showed me how simple things are? These are all the people who have the contribution in making my life in Thapar worth something. This is something I don't do for time-pass but actually want to build my future in this field.
Well, that is probably all. No wait, there has to be something I am missing on. Maybe another post with those things, as I recall! For now, there is one post with no negativity on the Blog! My first achievement this semester...

My First Post

The second semester in Thapar began a long time ago, it is nearly 2 months. A lot has happened since then, and this is not the right place to update all that on. Another weekend I stay in Thapar, means another need to write numerous posts. I just wanted these ones to be separate from the rest of them, so made another blog. Blogger provides me free unlimited hosting, and I use it to the fullest!

The Mathematics department is insane, and they have proven it once again. All subjects can have their quizzes in the mid-week, but not Maths. They need a special day for a fuckin 40 minute quiz. Right, because this is the only way they can have the students give them importance. Fantastic! After all we are simply students of Thapar, and they are a part of the administration. They have the rights of saying any damn thing they want to. They can make any fuckin rule and we are supposed to follow it.
It was a college if I recall correctly. They made it primary school. Compete with the IITs by giving a LPU like environment, good going on their part. Life is unfair, with a pinch of fairness. Today, that pinch is missing. Hopefully, it will be there the next time I am here to write a post.

We are engineering students, not Class 12 students. We have to make something better for our Physics project. But hey, we can't use Arduino, or wait we can't even use simple IC chips. Because that means we do nothing. Right, computer students not getting to code. Good going, we will surely beat the IITs in 5 years. Never thought progress can be so simple.
You know what, Fuck you Thapar!
